Candace is a Registered Psychologist and a Canadian Certified Counsellor. She practices from a family systems and attachment-based perspective that considers the impact of past and current relationships on mental health and incorporates evidence-based interventions to meet clients’ needs and preferences. Her goal is to provide a therapeutic environment where healing occurs within a safe and caring relationship.
Candace supports adults, adolescents, children, couples, and families. She recognizes that our struggles and life path are uniquely our own. She believes that clients are experts in their own lives and takes a collaborative approach that nurtures clients’ inner wisdom and resiliency. She also considers the impact of social and cultural factors on mental health and holistically supports clients within the context of their relationships and broader community.
With an emphasis on self-compassion, Candace supports clients who are experiencing symptoms related to acute, chronic, historical, and intergenerational trauma, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex PTSD. She also supports clients experiencing anxiety, depression, grief and loss, identity issues, life transitions, role strain, relationship challenges, parenting concerns, and mental health impacts related to food allergy. Candace also has extensive experience supporting individuals impacted by family violence.
Candace’s approach is trauma informed, inclusivity focused, culturally responsive, and 2SLGBTQ+ allied. Treatment approaches include eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), Hakomi, solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based interventions.
Candace is available weekdays and evenings for in-person, phone and video sessions at the Wholeness Psychology Sherwood Park office.
